I chose the PhD in Environmental Engineering because problems, especially the agricultural environment, are becoming a key concern now in China and I have worked in this area since 2001. I love Lisbon because it has better air quality, better environment, king people and has the famous football teams and clubs. ISA is a lovely place to study where professors and colleagues though their support gave me a feeling family, that helps me work easily and comfortably.
我之所以选择来这里攻读环境工程学博士学位，是因为现在中国的环境，特别是农业环境受到越来越多的关注，我从2001年就开始在这个领域里工作了。我喜欢里斯本，因为这里空气好，气候好，人们很友善而且还能近距离得接触优秀的足球队和足球俱乐部。工程学院是很好的学院，这里的老师和同学们经常帮助我，让我感受到家的温暖，让我觉得在这里工作和生活都很舒心。

I chose UTL because it had a good reputation; my friends and acquaintances spoke well of the University. I would strongly recommend the management course at UTL because it’s very comprehensive course that teaches the basic concepts of management, which is very valuable. I have a great affection for the country. The people are very nice and always happy to help. My experience at the Technical University of Lisbon has been a very rich one, both educationally and personally. I managed to do a little of everything: make new friends, have fun, and develop my skills. I really enjoyed my four years at the University and felt very much at home here.

Zhen Ma, researcher at IST
Zhen Ma joined the Centre for Structural Chemistry of IST almost two years ago. He was encouraged by articles he read in top scientific journals. He found an exceptional opportunity to advance his research in the area of catalysis and photo-luminescence in a very hospital and encouraging environment. Zhen Ma strongly recommends working and studying at IST to his students and colleagues in his hometown in the southern region of China because he became part of an incredibly supportive team and benefited from excellent lab equipments. Besides, he highlights the weather and the countryside: “the Portuguese coast is magnificent”.
