You are invited to present at the 2012 Energy Night, an event organized by students of the MIT Portugal Energy Club, which will take place June 1st, at Pavilhão do Conhecimento - Ciência Viva, in Lisbon.
Details of the Event
Inspired by one of the most successful energy events at MIT, the Energy Night is an opportunity for students to exhibit latest research, education and entrepreneurship in the energy space, developed in Portuguese Universities, to industry and research institutions Nationally and Internationally. In addition to posters, presenters are encouraged to utilize physical samples, prototypes and interactive displays to showcase their research.
What are the benefits of presenting at the Energy Night?
With the support of Pavilhão do Conhecimento - Ciência Viva, MIT Portugal Program and the MIT Energy Club via 2011 Organizing Committee of the Energy Night, the event, completely organized by students, is free and open to the public.
2012 MPP Energy Club – Energy Night will give high exposition to your work. Dissemination of the event will be done at National and International levels, through Energy Club’s networks around the world, by direct targeting with companies and by Pavilhão do Conhecimento – Ciência Viva, through specific media and institutional channels. Presenters are encouraged to bring posters, but also prototypes and interactive displays.
To summarize, participants will be able to:
• Engage in one to one networking possibilities, with their peers, researchers, investors, entrepreneurs and policymakers of the energy space.
• Gain visibility and media exposure, because you can make your work available in a format proper for wider dissemination, through the Energy Club and Pavilhão do Conhecimento channels. Also, your contacts and abstract will help build a database, available to the public, about energy talents in Portugal.
• Present research to a wider audience - Selected presenters will have the opportunity to give a brief elevator-style pitch to attendees.
How do you take part in the MPP Energy Club 2012 Energy Night?
In order to be considered for selection, send a description (200-500 words) of your research, with your contact email, phone and short bio to contents.energynight@gmail.com. Include a brief reference to the prototype or display you can bring, if applicable. Selected presenters, will be invited to record their “pitch” on video, which will be available in the Energy Night website and will be streamlined during the event.
We expect participants to send an abstract relevant to the following subjects:
Subject 1: Renewable energy
Subject 2: Conventional and other energy sources
Subject 3: Energy Policy and sustainability
Subject 4: Transports and mobility
Subject 5: Buildings and construction
Subject 6: Energy efficiency
Subject 7: Smarts Grids
Subject 8: Urban and rural energy development
Subject 9: Smart cities
We encourage early submissions due to space and logistic limitations. Participation in the event is free of charge.
Important Dates
Deadline for submissions: 30th March
Notification of acceptance: 20th April
Deadline for final poster submission: 28th May
