6th European Workshop on Equine Nutrition | FMV

We are very pleased to invite you to attend the 6th European Workshop on Equine Nutrition (EWEN) that will be held in Lisbon, from the 20th to the 22nd of June 2012, at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the Technical University of Lisbon.
The 6th EWEN is entitled “Feeding horses with forage based diets and impact of grazing systems on environment” and the scientific programme will include six sessions with the following main topics:
• Plant physiology and its relation to feeding value;
• Feed intake;
• Grazing/Ingesting behavior;
• Preservation and assessment of quality of forages for horses;
• Forage based production systems;
• Sustainable development of rural areas with horses.
Each of these sessions will comprise a main report given by an invited speaker, free communications and posters. A technical tour is scheduled on the second day (21th of June) with the main purpose of showing and promoting the local horse breeds, their main uses and traditions and divulging some investigation related with the meeting subjects.
The 6th EWEN is placed under the umbrella of the Horse Commission of the European Association for Animal Production (EAAP) as a satellite of the annual meeting of EAAP. Its scientific programme was established by an International Scientific Committee (Nutrition Working Group) in coordination with the National Committee. The organisation of the meeting in Portugal will be assured by the National Committee.
