CODAPTEC was created in 1979, under the name of Dance Experimental Centre, It wasn't until 1987 that it received the status of Company.
CODAPTEC is formed by students from all the 7 Schools of the Technical University of Lisbon (UTL), mostly from the Faculty of Human Kinetics (Sport Sciences; Dance, Ergonomics; and Special Education and Rehabilitation).
All choreographies are originally created by the Company, and characterised by a dynamic and liveliness which are adapted to the motor performance of those students, specialised in Human Kinetics.
The success of the choreographies reflect, not only the rhythmic and spatial structures of the Portuguese Folklore, but also, the motor ability and the artistic projection of dancers, joined by the music of the most popular musicians.
CODAPTEC requires that its dancers artistic performances include, besides the physical condition and aesthetic factors, the qualities necessary to a socio-cultural understanding and to acquire an university attitude, which, according to the statuary aims, allow them to deal with situations of academicals costume and of national and internacional interchanges
