Every year, the UTL International Relations Office organises several Portuguese language courses, each of about 40 hours.

These courses aim to provide a basic knowledge of the Portuguese language, in order to make things easier for you when attending classes and also in your daily life in Portugal.

Enrolment for these courses can be completed in any of the seven UTL Schools through the Erasmus Offices. You should fill in a Language Course Form.

These courses have a cost of 50€ for ERASMUS students and 200€ for other students.

Courses in the first semester normally begin in the middle of September, while the second semester courses begin in March.

Depending on demand, we are considering offering a one-year Portuguese language course. This course will be offered in two semesters, the first running form October to January (with a Christmas break) and the second from March to June (with an Easter break), each with 42 contact hours, over 15 weeks, 3 hours a week.

These courses will be based on a syllabus leading successful students to Independent User Level (Level B of the Common European Framework of Languages). Each semester would be worth 5 ECTS. As these courses are not included in the offer made by host universities, their cost will have to be supported by students themselves directly to the Language Centre of ISCSP as follows:

 UTL students: 225 €

Students from other universities: 305€

This amount must be paid on enrolment at the International Relations Office of ISCSP. Any candidate who, after enrolling, decides not to attend the course, may quit up to three weekdays before the course begins, but will have to pay 20 € for expenses. If there is not a minimum enrolment of 10 students, the course will be cancelled and applicants will be reimbursed the full amount paid. Class size will not exceed 15 students.

Students must attend a minimum of 75% of the classes to be assessed and receive the course certificate to be awarded the corresponding credits.
